Hiring People with Disabilities

I want to share this positive article with you, although not referring particularly to Andalucia, more so to the disability workforce in general.

Barbara Otto is the principle of Think Beyond the Label, a private-public collaborative venture based in the US that aims to improve recruitment opportunities for qualified job candidates with disabilities.

Quote:
People with disabilities are creative problem-solvers and technology adopters with fresh perspectives that organisations need

We've found they have low rates of absenteeism and turnover, which reduces a company's recruitment and retention costs.

Barbara Otto, (Think Beyond the Label) thank you for your positive attitude.

FUENGIROLA making life easier for WHEEL USERS

FUENGIROLA town hall aims to make life easier for people using wheels, whether it be delivery trolleys, pushchairs or wheelchairs.

This is part of the Plan for the Elimination of Architectural Barriers which is to be carried out by the town planning council.

This project will allow 164 spots that make access difficult for anyone using wheels to be removed and improved by making ramps. Out of the 164 planned, 27 have already been completed and the rest should be finished by the end of this year.
Super news, well done Fuengirola.

Waiting for the Decking

San Pedro de Alcántara
(Marbella) Andalucia
The beach in San Pedro, Marbella, has two ramps offering access for wheelchair users. These photographs were taken two weeks ago. The usual wooden decking leading down to the sea shore from the cement ramp has not yet been installed.
I will be keeping a keen eye on this zone and will update this blog as soon as I see any changes, otherwise the Town Hall will be notified. There is plenty of parking space right next to the beach.
Here is the link for the official website on beaches.
