TORREMOLINOS train station to have vital accessibility
Currently the station at Torremolinos lacks vital ramps or lifts, persons with reduced mobility, wheelchair users or even those with pushchairs are not able to access the platforms.
Finally after years of complaints by passengers and three requests from the Town Hall to Renfe, the Ministry of Development has agreed to upgrade the facilities. The work is due for completion within the next two years.
The train line runs from Malaga City, stopping at Malaga Airport and finally to the town of Fuengirola.

BLI-VE adapted cycle
Photograph courtsey of http://www.theleader.info/224/article/24537/spain/costa-del-sol/bli-ve-unveiled-in-fuengerola/
The bike was created by Juan Pineda and the town of Fuengirola was chosen to host this new product because it is the first Spanish Town having a fully adapted beach for disabled users, also Fuengirola is recognised by ONCE as being a town with disabled in mind.

Finally I've found one !
Yes an adapted hotel which provides true accessibility for wheelchair users here on the Costa del Sol, in the wonderful town of Fuengirola. Hotel Confortel offers ramps, lifts, adapted bedrooms, adapted bath rooms with wheel-in-showers, lowered sink units, swimming pool with a hoist, shaded area next to the pool plus an accessible toilet.
Fuengirola also offers an adapted beach approx. 10 mins. walk/push from the hotel Confortel. 164 new wheel user ramps in the town to help with accessibility.

FUENGIROLA making life easier for WHEEL USERS
FUENGIROLA town hall aims to make life easier for people using wheels, whether it be delivery trolleys, pushchairs or wheelchairs.
This is part of the Plan for the Elimination of Architectural Barriers which is to be carried out by the town planning council.
This project will allow 164 spots that make access difficult for anyone using wheels to be removed and improved by making ramps. Out of the 164 planned, 27 have already been completed and the rest should be finished by the end of this year.
Super news, well done Fuengirola.

Covering the Costa del Sol
For the time being I will be focusing on the Costa del Sol region in Andalucia, mainly because this is the area where I reside and am familiar with local activities. However, as this blog expands I do hope to incorporate other regions.
